Human Rights Reporter

Human Rights Reporter is a cross platform tool to help bring awareness of human rights abuses around the world. Using nothing more than a computer or mobile phone, people can anonymously upload accounts of human rights infringements as and when they occur. On the website they are catalogued and mapped by location, using a Google Maps mashup. Meanwhile community members can verify the events as best they can and provide comments on its authenticity by linking to third party resources. Visitors to the site are prompted to respond with simple but effective tools to raise the issues with those in power. Emails can be sent, phone calls (VOIP) made and messages or videos of support can be uploaded. Site visitors can also subscribe to entries that they have an interest in, either by the type of infringement or by physical location.
This project would help give a voice to those who have their human rights taken away from them, and help spread that message to the attention of the world.
