Mapping Creativity: more information
Background
Manchester is a global powerhouse with huge economic growth potential
These possibilities often fail to tap into the creative potential of local people who are already making a difference to themselves and their communities
We want to connect the knowledge and creativity of local people who are making a difference to bridge the health, education and poverty gaps that Manchester is renowned for
We believe that Manchester’s social ecology will benefit from nurturing the grass roots and finding ways to learn from, and share, experiences
We want to show the activity of local change-makers so that people wanting to start up new activity can learn from others who have already given it a shot. This activity will support and offer different perspectives to improve future projects
More about the brief
The project might collect and distribute content to new audiences enabling them to begin conversations or at the very least connect with one another, provide an easy route to access clear and relevant information, support sharing of resources, provide inspiration or translation to identified communities
The project needs to be able to hold and capture the emergence of a community as well as focus in on the detail and the intimacy of grass roots activity, be driven by user experience and narrative
We are interested in making connections between people’s existing identities and interests, their sense of place and what people know and trust already
Inspiration
Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Below are some success stories that might provide inspiration. Note what their barriers to access might be in terms of the look, feel and language they use. How can you innovate, mash up and build on these?
