Summary :

The BlueFace project is a collaboration between andymayer.net and Jay Cousins, funded through the Melt Award Scheme.

Originally begun as a means to establish how Bluetooth technologies could be used to encourage social interactions in the real world, the project evolved several real world applications, the first of which is PieFighter.

Through the PieFighter game we are testing commercially exploitable technologies through play.

See www.piefighter.com for game details

PieFighter tests whether people with shared tags can be alerted to each others presence - which can be adapted to networking tools alerting you when someone of relevance passes you (see video). It also tests the principle of passive loyalty schemes (automatic rewards for frequenting bars/cafes) and other spin off aps.

Just come across this site though my google alerts. This idea is great!

At some point the global power of the internet (plus a bit of GPS functionality) will enable locally relevant information and interaction. If this isn't the killer application we've been waiting for, it will be something like it.

This is a great project - networking made even simpler - can't wait to learn more!
