Michael
is British born Jamaican artist curator whose passion for diversity is
constantly reflected in the wonderful mix of artists with whom he collaborates
and perform at his uniquely provocative events/interventions
This inspirational
individual, after more than a decade, finally achieved recognition as an Art04 and Art05 finalist along side leading organisations and groups. Many
have been inspired and given
opportunities to develop their creative talents through his
innovative creative platform known as Doodlebug.
As an original Speakeasy collective
member, he has been instrumental in the success of Contact Theatre since it’s opening in 99 and continues to successfully programme it’s exhibitions/events
and artists residencies (AIR).

as one of the best examples of original modern (1) , he continues to be a leading creative light not only in the region, but
nationally and internationally.
Doodlebug was conceived in 1991 by him, a Hulme based artist/producer as a creative
platform for its culturally
diverse Northwest based artists,
musicians, performers and
DJs. Through it’s various
events, Doodlebug has in the last
few years has presented numerous artists and a variety of art forms to new
audiences. It has also brought international visual artists to Manchester to
participate in its annual celebration of
visual/street arts known as International Doodlebug Day ( R.I.P 98-06) thus sharing his passion
for visual arts and exploring new ways of reaching new audiences in Manchester
and beyond.
Local artists, the likes of Mr. Scruff and B-music/Finders keepers records's Andy Votel have been nurtured and platformed by his presentations.
Michael
has presented more than 100 artists through his ‘Doodlebug Presents…’
showcases. Unearthing many hidden gems of the North West’s creative community
at the city’s leading arts venues such as the Cornerhouse galleries, Urbis and
Contact theatre, as well as taking his event to the Big Chill, WOMAD, decibel showcases and
Aukland’s (New Zealand) Ignite Festival amongst others…
