I am the founder of Reina Yaidoo Ltd, an organisation which designs and develops technology and creative based products. This work covers a wide range of skills and the ability to collaborate successfully with a range of organisations from Universities, community development agencies to film makers and more. Reina Yaidoo LTD took part in the BBC Innovation Labs. This was a week of working with BBC Commissioners and mentors, developing ideas for their Audio and Music division on the question of visual radio. We are currently working on an application for Terahertz Technology, and avenues for a feature film production.

I have been chairperson of Afrocats for several years, which informs and teaches diverse groups about Afro-Caribbean culture. Our work has helped to build social connections within the community.  Afrocats has put on theatrical programs and workshops making learning fun, intuitive and positive. We believe it is through knowledge and understanding that true connections can be built.

I presented The Detour at North Manchester FM, a community based radio station. This program covered local issues such as the environment, health and community involvement.  This method provided an excellent platform to bring forth a more participatory exploration of how Science and Technology affects the community locally.  Themes were introduced in an accessible and communicable manner and positive outlooks on technology in the developing world were also addressed.

My work with University students in the North West with Specific Learning Difficulties and as a Mentor provides a deeper appreciation and encourages use of the principles of universal design. 

These various strands inform and instruct the ideas and design processes I implement.

 I have links to the depth and range of diversity within Manchester from local groups to disability awareness etc. I look to bring a creative and inventive approach to the call for social cohesion and I look forward to hearing from you regarding my application for Mapping Creativity.
